Sympathetic Strip Out

KpH Deconstruction are experts in providing clients with sympathetic strip out solutions to projects with a sensitive, live or listed nature. The term sympathetic strip out demonstrates the additional care and attention we pay to structures of an older, more fragile nature, or indeed when a client may be looking to preserve as much of the original features for re-use/valued engineering for the follow on refurbishment works.

Over 60% of our works are undertaken in live buildings where mitigating noise, managing access restrictions and maintaining live services to existing tenants are of paramount importance. We understand that often, as the first Contractor on site, regardless of the size of redevelopment, part of our role is to ensure excellent working relations with tenants, neighbouring tenants and the surrounding community.

“Reduced” demolition techniques are adopted on our most sensitive sites e.g. the use of rubber matting and hand-held concrete munchers to name but a few. These techniques, in the past, have allowed us to strip out and demolish a floor area of a hospital with a live Operating Theatre in use directly above us.

We can successfully operate in buildings which are under the jurisdiction of strict preservation and conservation requirements, such as Grade I and Grade II; as listed under the National Heritage List for England. In these cases we employ specialist dismantling techniques to remove unwanted and unlisted interiors, and use innovative solutions for the protection of the structure and features to be retained.

“KpH successfully completed the Strip Out back to shell…”

KpH successfully completed the strip out back to shell of the office Category A&B fit out on three floors in 1 Snowden Street. Working both above and adjacent to occupied offices KpH met the very tight programme period that required continuous dialogue & interface with the building management team and the neighbouring tenants to ensure minimum disruption.

The whole site logistics, control of structure borne noise and removal of debris via the single shared goods lift was dealt with pro-actively and sensibly by Kevin & Andrew and thus enabled the swift agreement of the final account.
