Strip Out and Enabling

Client: Brookfield Properties
Project: Podium Building, 1 Eversholt, London

Brief Description

Working alongside the Principal Contractor, Maris Interiors LLP, for Costain and Skanska, KpH undertook this 6 week Strip Out and Enabling project on two floors of the Podium Building in 1 Eversholt Street (part of the Euston Railway Station precinct). This is one element of a bigger project, called HS2 Euston, to open up National high-speed rail links throughout the UK.

The works were carried out on floors that were sandwiched between live offices, we therefore had to adhere to noise restrictions and be careful to coordinate our movements around the needs of the existing tenants. We successfully worked around the limited vehicle movements permitted each day; adapted our cage vans so that they could be used on Site; booked our deliveries and collections 48 hours in advance; and adhered to the strict controls put in place for the use of the small Goods Lift and a shared Loading Bay.

We also met the requirements for all Supervisors to have black coded SKILLcards (NVQ/SVQ Level 5) and for all staff to attend and pass the half day Induction and drugs/alcohol tests.

The challenge of this tight programme, which we achieved, was to safely coordinate works around the many trades and Contractors who needed to be on site completing tasks in the same workspace at the same time. We also managed to incorporate requests for additional works into the programme from the Client at short notice.

Scope of Works

The strip out and removal of the following:

  • Fixtures and Fittings;
  • Plasterboard, glazed Partitions
    and Column Casings;
  • Floor Coverings;
  • Tiles and Grid Ceilings;
  • M&E to soffits and some
    perimeter Trunking.
