Leading Lights Awards 2022 Winners – Environment, Energy Efficiency

Recognising exceptional sites, organisations and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment in the areas of Community, Environment and Workforce, the Leading Lights Awards celebrate all those that have gone above and beyond in making a significant contribution to the construction industry. We have long been frustrated with the lack of opportunity to repurpose waste materials so by working with Globechain, we successfully donated and redistributed over 682 items and 16.8 tonnes of materials, benefiting up to 5,000 people. By championing sustainability, we have created a new model for all deconstruction companies to follow.

You can find a full list of all the winners and more information on the initiative they were recognised for on the Leading Lights Awards Website.

Supplier of the Year 2022

British Land awarded us Supplier of the Year 2022 alongside Globechain. Working collaboratively, with Globechain we distributed over 130 tonnes of strip-out materials from Exchange House to local charities for reuse, including carpets, floor tiles, lights, kitchen units, blinds, doors and telecoms equipment. Along with substantial carbon savings, this has improved community spaces and facilities for local people. Together, KpH and Globechain have challenged traditional deconstruction methods, investing time and training to grow environmental and social benefits.Read more about the award here.

CCS Gold Award at 155 Bishopsgate

In 2020, we were ecstatic to receive a Gold Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Considerate Contractors 2020 Gold Award and Certificate of Excellence Certificate

We scored an impressive 9 out of 9 for our Health and Safety quality, which corroborates our commitment to Health and Safety in and around our sites. We achieved full marks in this category for some of the following key reasons: the ample number of First Aiders on site; our Daily Briefings; weekly Safety Inspections; and the implementation of the QR codes linked to safety critical signage that, when scanned, connects the user to an audio translation of the information in multiple languages.

About the Project

The site is an occupied building, with our site area covering 10,000m2, and is part of the City of London’s Broadgate Development. The works included the Strip Out of Levels 6 and 7, and part of Level 4, back to shell and core. Strip Out of the vacated retail units on the Ground Floor also formed part of our scope of works. CCS Bronze Award at 10 Devonshire Square

In 2018, we were delighted to receive a Bronze Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme for surpassing their Performance Beyond Compliance standards.

Considerate Contractors 2018 Bronze Award and Performance Beyond Compliance Certificate

This award winning site received a maximum score of 9 in the category “Respect the Community”. We received praise for our ability to manage the needs and expectations of the local community, and the auditor was extremely impressed with the ingenuity of our team in the design of our scaffold gantry to facilitate the large quantum of waste within a relatively confined space.

About the Project

Our Strip Out works back to shell and core spanned across all 8 floors (including the Plant Room). This involved the removal of all fixtures and fittings, ceilings, floors, plasterboard partitions, doors, redundant mechanical and electrical (M&E) services, riser walls and Non-Notifiable Licensable Asbestos. We also designed and arranged for the installation of scaffolding for removing light strip out waste, and temporary hoarding to enable the removal of Asbestos and heavy waste through the public domain which was undertaken out of hours to mitigate any potential disruption.
